Calm In the Midst of Chaos

On the road of life, many individuals find themselves in the middle of confusion hoping just to deal with life. Often people just go from crisis to crisis whether it is with health or monetary and never
seem get on top of their challenges. They let their external situations dictate all areas of their life.

Yet, life is more than your problem. It is much more than the total of all the negative stuff that may face you. If you aren't personally confronting an imminent crisis in your life, you certainly know of people in your group that happen to be. Life can be full of a long list of issues and chaos often appears unavoidable.

In spite of all the problems, you should get a handle on how to stay calm since not finding that calm in the middle of the storm may have a huge effect on your life in terms of your psychological and physical health. So what precisely can you do to reduce the effects of the "storms" that are bound to be all around you.

Whenever you turn on the News today the one thing you will discover is bad news. Bad news sells, yet listening to the bad news does very little to better anybody's life. It may be a good deal better to do some positive mental development first thing each morning rather than picking up that newspaper to see who had been shot, killed or maimed.

Avoiding putting this negative pictures in your head and substituting positive thoughts and images can give you a whole different point of view on life. Begin by developing a positive inner voice that can help you develop into "others" centered rather than self absorbed. This by itself can change your whole view on life. It is this that help you generate a peaceful attitude even when you may find yourself in the middle of a storm personally.

The 17th Century clergyman, Matthew Henry said, "After the storm comes the calm". Have you ever noticed how calm it can be after a violent storm? That may also be true in the middle of the eye of a storm. I personally remember being in the midst of a violent tropical storm just north of the equator in Africa. It was an enormous tropical thunderstorm which ripped roofs of many of the residences. Yet, as the eye of the storm moved directly over where I was, it was incredibly calm. The truth is there was a "stillness" in the air that I never have encountered since. It is that kind of calm that we need to get in our lives.

To obtain this kind of calm requires you to be vigilant about the insight that goes into your head. It is best to stay away from as much of the negative around you as possible. If your input is overwhelmingly positive, you'll most likely have a greater capability to stay calm regardless of the storm. This would not only assist you in maintaining better health physically but it will also help you in your mental health giving you a real clarity of mind.

During these busy times, life can seemingly bring a good deal of confusion. Developing a calm mind will be what helps you make it through the storm.
